Letters to the Editor: The ‘open secret’ of anti-Asian bias in college admissions
The Chronicle of Higher Education reports that as the percentage of Asian students in college admissions reached 25 percent or more, the percentage of Asian-American applicants in high school who were admitted to college decreased for the first time in 16 years (from 14 percent to just 9 percent).
In the following letter, a concerned reader writes to suggest that Asian students who are accepted to our colleges and universities are not necessarily the best students for them, and that they are not necessarily “culturally qualified” as the Chronicle claims.
