Rafael Nadal says he and his family are ‘very well’ after birth of first child
Rafael Nadal of Spain announced yesterday that he and his wife Sorana Vincenzo are expecting a baby boy.
The tennis player, 30, and his wife, 27, were also pictured at the Miami Grand Prix wearing matching outfits.
After confirming his pregnancy in October, Nadal, who is the world number one player, told Spanish media that he was feeling “great” and looking forward to the arrival of his third daughter in May.
Nadal, who is also a former world number one and the No 1 ranked player in the world, revealed when he was approached by Spanish media, where he would be celebrating his 50th birthday on May 23.
“I am very happy, very well. I am a father.”
“Tomorrow morning you will start to feel some strong contractions. But you know what it means: you have a boy,” Nadal told French daily newspaper Le Parisien on Monday.
But he added that there had been no pain during labour as he had been expecting for over a year now.
As a result, Nadal will not have to travel to Miami with his entire entourage to give birth. Instead, he will be joining his family in London to be with his wife and newborn son.
The baby boy is due in early May and Nadal is already looking forward to the arrival of his third child.
He told Le Parisien: “Tomorrow morning you will start to feel some strong contractions. But you know what it means: you have a boy.”
However, Nadal’s wife, who was expecting their first child last year, is on holiday in France.
Nadal first announced his pregnancy in October, with the Spaniard stating that he was “absolutely fine” and he would be “enjoying my 50th birthday.”
He later confirmed the pregnancy, telling Spain’s Cadena Ser station that he was “delighted” to have a boy and that he was “very well, and he will have a bright future.”
